A Gong Puja is a sound ceremony of relatively recent origin, created by gong master Don Conreaux (a disciple of Yogi Bhajan), and today practiced in many parts of the world. I had the privilege of training with Don in Verona, Italy in 2013 (9 days) and in Madrid, Spain in 2019 (7 days).
In essence:
It consists of a continuous session of gong playing lasting 7 hours and 45 minutes, throughout the night.
Participants lie down on mattresses (provided), as if to sleep, and allow themselves to be cradled by the continuous and vibratory sound of the gongs.
The name “Puja” comes from Sanskrit and means “ritual act of devotion” — here, a devotion through sound and vibration.
Purpose:
To create a deep meditative state of surrender, allowing body and mind to rest and regenerate.
The uninterrupted sound of the gong works on the nervous, energetic, and emotional systems, promoting a sense of purification, healing, and expansion of consciousness.
Main characteristic:
It is different from a meditative concert or a short gong session, because here the sound is constant and lasts throughout the entire night.
